Nicolás Diez

Nicolás Ignacio Diez Parajón, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 9, 1977, is a former professional football player and manager who primarily played as an attacking midfielder.

Diez began his professional playing career at Argentinos Juniors in 1993 before moving to Racing Club in 1996, where his progress was hindered by recurring injuries.

After a brief loan spell at Ferro Carril Oeste and a move to European football with French side FC Gueugnon, he continued his career playing in Colombia and Chile, representing clubs such as Everton and O'Higgins.

He achieved a major milestone in his playing career by winning the Torneo Apertura with Deportivo Táchira in Venezuela, eventually concluding his professional playing days after a stint with Ñublense in Chile.

Transitioning to the sidelines, he served as a key assistant coach to Jorge Sampaoli for the Chilean national team and later joined him in the Argentine national setup.

He also built an extensive career as an assistant coach alongside Sebastián Beccacece across multiple clubs including Universidad de Chile, Defensa y Justicia, Independiente, and Racing Club, briefly serving as interim manager for Defensa y Justicia.

In July 2023, he took his first major head coaching role at Atlanta, managing the team until October of that same year.

In December 2024, he was appointed as the head coach of Argentinos Juniors, signing a three-year contract to lead the team in the Argentine Primera División.
