Alexander Medina

Alexander Jesús Medina Reobasco (Salto, Uruguay, August 8, 1978) is a Uruguayan former professional football player and manager who currently manages Estudiantes de La Plata in the Argentine Primera División.

As a player, he was a prolific striker who shined in Uruguayan football—capturing scoring titles with Liverpool and Nacional (where he also played alongside Marcelo Gallardo)—and represented the Uruguay national team.

Transitioning into management, he built his reputation through a stellar initial stint at Talleres de Córdoba and guiding Vélez Sarsfield to the semifinals of the 2022 Copa Libertadores, alongside brief spells abroad with Internacional in Brazil and Granada in Spain.

In February 2026, he took over as the head coach of Estudiantes de La Plata, highlighted by a dominant victory in the La Plata derby against Gimnasia.
