Career
Guillermo Barros Schelotto (La Plata, May 4, 1973) is an Argentine former professional football player and manager who currently manages Vélez Sarsfield in the Argentine Primera División.
As a player, he was a legendary winger and forward—most notably starring for Boca Juniors across ten successful years (winning multiple Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental titles) after beginning his career at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, and later starring in MLS with the Columbus Crew, where he won the MLS MVP award in 2008.
Transitioning into management, he made his name leading Lanús to the 2013 Copa Sudamericana title before returning to Boca Juniors as head coach, winning consecutive league titles (2016–17 and 2017–18), and later managing LA Galaxy and the Paraguay national team.
In September 2026, he took charge as the head coach of Vélez Sarsfield.
